I went in to this class with extreme anxiety; I am not a numbers person. Like the previous statistics classes I have taken, this one has shown me that it's more about writing the results and understanding the data than it is about math. The meaningful assignments I have selected for this class are either a reflection of my growth in the content or a subject I found especially interesting. For example, I am including the initial Reflection on Quantitative Methods assignment. I also included my Report #3 as a meaningful assignment because I understand ANCOVA well and exhibited a grasp of APA tables in the report. Finally, I will include my final project for the class because this will truly be the culmination of my semester's work in the course. I plan on using my own instrument for my dissertation and know this assignment will be of value at that time.
As was the case with my other course for the Spring semester, we encountered unique challenges that changed the way the course was structured. Even with that in mind, perhaps especially with that in mind, this class took on great meaning for me in terms of the work I was doing at Georgia College. Dr. Sorgen's goal was for the assignments in this class to be something we could utilize at some point in our career. With that in mind, I was able to create and design a class around my passion for training peer tutors. I enjoyed the fact that each assignment built on this premise and allowed me to prepare for one of the goals I have for a future position in higher education. We began the semester with the idea of andragogy, something I had mistakenly defined for years, and then proceeded through assessment and Classroom Assessment Techniques, among other concepts.
